Fukuoka is the biggest city in Kyushu island located south-west of Japan. New route to Helsinki from Fukuoka will start from 8 of May. And travel trade in Fukuoka has big expectation on Finnair flight and there are many sales functions in spring time to prepare for the new flight.
Fukuoka is the fourth airport opened in Japan to Helsinki. The population of Fukuoka city is 1.53 million, Fukuoka prefecture is 5.09 million, whole Kyushu island is 13.23 million. Finnair targets 14 000 passengers until October this summer. Obviously this is the only one European route from Fukuoka after KLM’s withdrawal in Jan, 2016. Naturally travel trade in Fukuoka and Kyushu expect Finnair tremendously.
According to this expectation, there are many events and sales functions preparing the flights by public and private sectors. JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents ) organized *team Europe seminar on 28 of Jan inviting almost 100 professionals and 4 travel agencies (JTB, KNT, NTA and Hankyu Express) jointly organized customer seminar on the following day (29 Jan). Seminar for Scandinavia and Finland was the most popular with 150 audiences.
There will be seminar & reception by Fukuoka trading association on 17 of March, Visit Finland seminar on the same day and Finnair inauguration reception on 21 of April. Also representatives of travel trade will visit Helsinki between 11-14 of March.
The service to Fukuoka makes Finnair the only European airline to operate to four different cities in Japan – Finnair currently offers daily connections to Tokyo Narita, Nagoya and Osaka, totally 31 weekly flights in summer schedule.
